Ummmm, 'ya think?

My Fortune Cookie told me:
When the camel says quack, it is time to check your drink.
Get a cookie from Miss Fortune

Or maybe it's time for you to STOP drinking, eh?? Considering the date, I thought this was pretty funny, but since I don't drink, at all - it doesn't apply to me!

Malabrigo....Oh my!

When ordering for Christmas presents, I decided that I was going to go all out for some of my favorite people and buy some merino wool. Having knit with Manos before and not cared for the thick and thin nature of it AT ALL, but loving the softness and colors of the wool, I asked at my favorite online store if they had anything that was like that yarn, but that was a bit more even.

They said yes, and pointed me in the direction of their Malabrigo This stuff is heaven in a skein! It's soft as Cashmere, even and easier to knit and the colors are just beautiful! Not to mention, you get great yardage for your money too!

I warn you, gentle readers, RUN, don't walk, and get yourself some of this yarn before everyone realizes just how wonderful it is and it sells out all over the US!

I am really looking forward to starting the scarves I am going to knit with this yarn! I am going to ask for Santa to buy me some of this so I can make myself something with this after the Holidays. Yummy!!!!!!

Irish Hiking Scarf...Done!

And what a fun knit it was...it was my first try at cables too. If you've never done cables, you can do it! You can find the pattern here Irish Hiking Scarf I still have no pics to post...I just can't get any good ones...I need a decent camera! Actually, I just need some lessons on how to take a decent photo -- and I know the PERFECT person! Now, if I can just talk him in to coming here to teach me...I will be in business! What do you think, Linda? Can he come for a week or so? Think I would survive that long?

On to SOCKS! In a lovely Merino wool that knits like buttah. I am just loving this wool!! You can find some from The Painter Tiger OMG, her merino is to dye (pun intended!) for! And the colors!!!! LOVELY!! It actually feels like you're knitting with a yarn that was some how infused with lotion...it's that soft! LOVE this stuff. After the holidays I am going to ask her to custom dye some for just ME! Her signature color (you can see it here is something I MUST see -- in a pair of socks -- in this wool! Acutally, I must feel them too! HEAVEN! Pure Heaven I tell you.

That's all for now. Back to cleaning (YUCK) but the sooner I get that done, the sooner I can get back to knitting.

In Knitting Knews.....Finally!

Finally, something knitterly to report! I am working on couple of scarves.

One, an airy, lacey number of my own design from a lovely light blue Alpaca and the other is the famous Irish Hiking Scarf that is such fun to knit, and my first try at cables, from Plymouth Encore Colorspun. WOW -- what fun! Who knew cables were so easy -- and that yarn is quite nice as well...and I thought I was a yarn snob too, but for being mostly acrylic, this is quite nice stuff?

I also got some Estelle Cashmere in this colorway in anticipation of my first Clapotis by design GENIUS Kate Gilbert

Pictures to come later this evening....hopefully!

Best invention since DPN's!!!

FOUND HER! These things are the greatest invention since DPN's -- Call me old fashioned, I do enjoy 12" circs. for the boring stuff, but there is nothing better for gussets and shaping than DPN's IMHO and since I don't care much for switching needles -- I just usually use them all the time....

Which brings me to The Needle Keeper!

Needle Keepers are THE greatest things I've seen EVER!! Marilyn is a genius :) Check her out, and no, I do not own stock in the company...just a very, very happy customer!! Hurry, before she sells out, again ;)

Long time, no write!

I knew this was going to be hit and miss at best, but I really do promise to try to do a better job of updating here once I can actually finish some projects :) Honest!

Ahhh, haaa...

As you can see, I've done just dandy keeping up here. That is mostly because nothing at all is happening here. I have not knit a stitch in months, but I am itching to and really have to get back to it before I forget how!

For now...

New Knitting Addict

Well, lets see how well I do at keeping this going. I am terrible at writing -- but we'll see what happens.
